The Qatari Society of Al Gannas is participating in the 6th meeting of the World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC), taking place in Turkiye from June 6-9. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari Society of Al Gannas, member of the WEC Board of Directors, head of the State of Qatar's delegation Ali bin Khatem Al Mehshadi said that the meeting discussed several urgent matters, including standardizing the rules of ethnosports and expanding WEC's membership to include four new countries. The 6th Ethnosport Culture Festival was inaugurated by President of WEC Bilal Erdogan, with the participation of over a thousand athletes from 30 countries. The festival featured various activities such as ethnosports, games, arts, culinary arts, and theatrical arts. The cultural festival dedicated a special section in honor of Palestine and the Gaza Strip, which is subject to a genocide by the Israeli occupation. The Qatari Society of Al Gannas was named as best ethnosport association in February, in recognition of its significant efforts in the field of ethnosports, including falconry, camel racing, and shooting, in addition to its efforts to add falconry on the UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list.
