The Qatar youth handball team is set to face Japan on Sunday in its opening match of the 18th Asian Men's Junior (U21) Handball Championship, hosted by Jordan from July 14 to 25 at the Princess Sumaya Hall in Al Hussein Youth City. The Qatari delegation departed Doha on Saturday heading to Jordan to participate in the tournament, which features 13 teams: Qatar, Jordan, Japan, South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and India. The participating teams have been divided into four groups, with the Qatari team placed in Group D alongside Japan, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei. The Qatari team aims to secure a victory in its opening match against Japan on Sunday followed by a match against South Korea on Monday, and concluding its group stage matches against Chinese Taipei on Tuesday.
