The State of Qatar is participating in the 54th ordinary session of the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights that commenced at the Secretariat-General of the Arab League in Cairo on Monday and will run for three days. The State of Qatar was represented by a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by HE Ambassador Dr. Turki bin Abdulla Al Mahmoud. In his speech at the meeting, HE Dr. Turki bin Abdulla Al Mahmoud highlighted the importance of the session's agenda, especially regarding the unprecedented Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, praising the efforts of the Secretariat General of the Arab League and the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights for organizing this important meeting. His Excellency reaffirmed the State of Qatar's condemnation of the Israeli violations and racist practices in the occupied Arab territories, particularly attacks against civilians, stressing the need to adhere to international humanitarian law and protect civilians from t he serious violations to which they are continuously subjected in the occupied Palestinian territories. The session will address the Israeli occupation forces' severe assaults in the occupied Palestinian territories, amidst the ongoing onslaught on the Gaza Strip, and Israel, the occupying power, holding back the bodies of martyrs. It will also follow up on the outcomes of the recent Arab Summit in Manama concerning the guarantee of the right to health and the right to education during armed conflicts. The 54th ordinary session of the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights will also discuss the topic of Artificial intelligence (AI) and Human Rights, particularly the matter of AI ethics and ways to address the challenges posed by this technology to the optimal enjoyment of human rights. Furthermore, the 2025 Arab Human Rights Day logo will be approved and observed annually on March 16. The Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights will submit its recommendations to the next regular session (162) of the A rab League Council at the ministerial level for consideration and adoption in September.
