Doha: The State of Qatar hosted today the third meeting of the GCC Cybersecurity Executive Committee with the participation of Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries of Ministries and Deputies of the bodies and centers concerned with cybersecurity in the GCC. In his opening speech, Advisor to the President of National Cybersecurity Agency, Abdullah bin Jassim Al Sayed, stressed the importance of enhancing international cooperation, and praised the efforts of the technical committees affiliated with the Executive Committee in preparing the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy. He noted the need to intensify efforts during the coming periods to achieve the common goals between the countries of the region within the framework of the strategy, and urged the encouragement of scientific research and innovation in the field of cybersecurity by supporting talents and working to develop them. For his part, Director of the Telecommunications and E-Government Department at the GCC General Secretariat, Maher bin Abdullah Al S aleh, praised the efforts of the State of Qatar and the interest and continuous support it gives to the progress of the Cooperation Council in various fields, stressing the importance of the topics included on the meeting agenda. During the meeting, a number of important topics on the agenda were discussed, including the discussion of the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy, the first Gulf Cybersecurity Hackathon, in addition to the Gulf Cyber Exercises scheduled to be held in Doha next November.
