Doha: The organizing committee of the Qatar 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) to implement a number of quality programs and projects during Qatar's hosting of the tournament. Director-General of the Qatar Development Fund Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari said in a statement that the fund was able to create many opportunities, especially for youth in developing countries and conflict areas, to express themselves, using effective and innovative tools such as sports that reflect their interests and bring them together, with the aim of supporting the development and peace of their communities. He added that today's memorandum of understanding with the organizing committee of the Qatar 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup will help continue effective efforts to promote peace and ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals. In turn, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb, who is also Director-Ge neral of the organizing committee of the Qatar 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, expressed the federation's anticipation of successfully working with the Qatar Fund for Development to make sports a means of peace and bring about significant and positive changes in communities worldwide on a wide scale, considering the signing of this memorandum as an appropriate and unique initiative for dialogue to exchange ideas to enhance good practices and the success of community projects. This memorandum comes within the framework of FIBA's Basketball for Good program to emphasize joint efforts to promote the role of sports as a tool for achieving peace and building development worldwide, targeting conflict areas and the most needy countries, where this memorandum will contribute to supporting the resilience of these communities and will focus particularly on youth.
