Amman: HH Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) and member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics in Paris on Friday. His Highness wished Team Jordan success and to continue their Olympic achievements in this edition, which will run until August 11. It is the kingdom's 12th participation in the Olympic Games, the first was in the 1980 edition in the Russian capital Moscow, according to a JOC statement. The kingdom fielded 12 male and female athletes in 6 sports: taekwondo quartet Juliana Al-Sadiq, Rama Abu Al-Rub, Saleh Sharbati and Zaid Mustafa; boxing trio Hussein, Ziad Ashish and Obada Kasbeh; gymnastics, Ahmed Abul Saud; table tennis, Zaid Abu Yaman, swimming, Amr Al-Wir and Karen Balbisi; and marathon, Moath Khawaldeh.
