Prime Minister Mustafa: Ending occupation, more recognitions of Palestine are what makes two-state solution possible

Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa Friday stated that ending the Israeli occupation and more recognitions of the State of Palestine are what makes the two-state solution possible to achieve. Speaking in a hosting a high-level meeting of several Muslim and European countries by Spain's Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares in Madrid, Prime Minister Mustafa stressed that ending the Israeli occupation, more recognitions of the State of Palestine and granting Palestine full United Nations membership are what makes the two-state solution possible. He stressed the need for the international community to mobilize efforts to implement practical steps to implement the two-state solution and bring an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He added that course of international justice manifest in implementing the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling constitutes the basis for confronting the unlawful Israeli occupation and halt its illegal practices. He reiterated that Israeli schemes target not only the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but also the existence of the whole Palestinian people. He called on the international community to support the Palestinian government's efforts aimed at implementing relief programs, the reconstruction of and halting the aggression against Gaza. Albares stressed his country's support to Palestine and the Palestinian government efforts throughout the Palestinian territories, including Gaza, while pointing out that there was 'a clear willingness' among the participants 'to move on from words to actions and to make strides towards a clear schedule for the effective implementation' of a two-state solution, starting with Palestine joining the United Nations. 'We meet to make another push for the end of the war in Gaza, for a way out of the unending spiral of violence between the Palestinians, the Israelis … That way is clear. The implementation of the two-state solution is the only way,' Spanish Foreign Min ister, Jose Manuel Albares, told reporters. He added that while the wave of international recognitions of the State of Palestine is important, but is not sufficient, while stressing the need for the international community to take decisive action in the face of the efforts aimed at undermining the two-state solution and expansion of the cycle of violence, adhere to international law, halt the Israeli aggression and bring about security and peace in the Middle East. In attendance were his counterparts, including from Norway and Slovenia, European Union Foreign Policy chief Josep Borrell, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa and members of the Arab-Islamic Contact Group for Gaza that includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkiye.
