RAMALLAH: The presidential spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that it is high time for the US administration and Congress to tell Netanyahu that he must immediately stop the war, if there is a genuine American will to achieve peace and stability in the region, instead of allowing him to deceive the war-opposing world. Abu Rudeineh added that the massacres committed in Gaza, which have so far resulted in 140,000 casualties, in addition to the daily killings in the West Bank including Jerusalem, which have resulted in 589 killings and the detention of more than 9,700 citizens since October 7, 2023, along with the destruction of infrastructure in the refugee camps of Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarem will lead to more tension and further erosion of opportunities. 'They will not bring security and peace to anyone.' He stressed that if the world is truly eager to achieve security and peace in the region, it must compel Netanyahu's government to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people. 'There is a limited opportunity, though it remains fleeting, and it is up to the US administration and Congress to seize it to halt the war.' Abu Rudeineh reiterated that without a comprehensive ceasefire in all Palestinian territories, any plan formulated for the day after the war would never see the light of day. He emphasized that no plan would succeed without the approval of the Palestinian people and their leadership. He pointed out that the American side must realize that its blind support for the occupation, providing it with weapons and money, and standing against international legitimacy, holds it responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people. Therefore, it must compel the occupation authorities to cease their aggression, crimes and insane war before it is too late. Source: Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA
