RAMALLAH: President Mahmoud Abbas has extended messages of gratitude and appreciation to the member states of the United Nations Security Council who voted in favor of granting full membership to the State of Palestine in the UN. He praised the honorable positions of these countries, which stood alongside truth, justice, and international law, defying all pressures aimed at thwarting the draft resolution. The President affirmed that international law is clear and explicit in protecting the two-state solution based on international legitimacy. The President reiterated Palestine's determination to proceed with obtaining full membership in the United Nations, considering it an established and legitimate right of the Palestinian people. He commended the statements made by the heads of delegations of all countries that supported and endorsed the just cause for an independent and sovereign State of Palestine and an end of the Israeli occupation. The President pointed out that Palestine and its people highly val ue the courage of brotherly countries that have been standing by the Palestinian cause and their just rights. He emphasized that the State of Palestine will continue its endeavor to gain further recognitions from countries that have not yet done so, and that it will go to the General Assembly and the Security Council until full membership in the United Nations is achieved.
