President Mahmoud Abbas has expressed vehement condemnation of the United States' use of its veto power in the United Nations Security Council to block the passing of a resolution mandating Israel to cease its aggression against the Gaza Strip, describing the move as 'aggressive and unethical'. President Abbas deemed the US stance as aggressive and unethical, describing it as a 'blatant violation of all humanitarian values and principles.' He held the United States responsible 'for the bloodshed of Palestinian children, women, and elderly in Gaza at the hands of Israeli occupation forces.' The President attributed the move taken by the US in the UN Security Council to its 'shameful policy supporting the [Israeli] occupation and Israel's brutal aggression against the Palestinian people.' He emphasized that the State of Palestine will take a firm stance in response to the development. 'This US policy makes it complicit in the crimes of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes committed by the Israeli occu pation forces against Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem,' said the President. He warned that 'this policy has become a danger to the world, posing a threat to international peace and security.' President Abbas stated that the US administration's veto challenges the international community, 'giving an additional green light to the Israeli occupation to continue its aggression against the people of Gaza.' He pointed out that 'this decision will haunt the United States for years,' urging the international community to 'seek solutions to halt the genocide being committed by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, to prevent this serious crisis from escalating into a religious war that threatens the entire world.' The President expressed his gratitude to the UN Security Council member states that stood on the side of justice, peace, and humanitarian ethics, supporting the draft resolution that called for an end to the Israeli aggression, considering the fact that i t threatens global peace and security.
