CAIRO: President Mahmoud Abbas arrived today in the Arab Republic of Egypt for an official visit, responding to an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Palestine's Ambassador to Egypt, Diab al-Louh, stated that the two leaders are scheduled to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation aimed at achieving an immediate and sustainable halt to the ongoing war of genocide carried out by Israel, the occupying power, on the Palestinian people. The leaders will also examine the Egyptian, Arab, regional, and international efforts exerted to address the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression. Al-Louh added that the two presidents will also discuss the efforts to prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land and to halt the assaults and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation and settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He pointed out that the visit aims to enhance ongoing bilateral consultati on and cooperation between the two leaderships on various shared issues at the Arab, regional, and international levels. The visit also seeks to contribute to the efforts led by Egypt and several friendly countries to stop the Israeli war of genocide. The visit's ultimate goal is to open a political horizon leading to an end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign and geographically contiguous State of Palestine, based on the lines of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital, al-Louh said. This is to be achieved under the umbrella and leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the legitimate and sole representative of our people inside and outside Palestine. Accompanying the president on the visit are Hussein al-Sheikh, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Major General Majid Faraj, Head of the General Intelligence Service, Majdi al-Khaldi, Presidential Adviser for Diplomatic Affairs, and Diab al-Louh, A mbassador of the State of Palestine to Egypt.
