RAMALLAH: Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh stressed today the importance of France's pressure to push for a ceasefire and an end to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting in Ramallah with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Riyad Al-Malki, and the French Consul General in Jerusalem, Nicolas Kassianides. Shtayyeh affirmed the necessity of opening all crossings with the Gaza Strip to bring in relief and medical aid as well as fuel, especially to the areas north of the Strip, and to restore electricity and water. He stressed the need for pressure to stop the violations of the occupation and its colonists against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He also stressed the need for France to take measures against colonists who hold dual French and Israeli citizenship. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of France's support for the recognition of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, appreciating France's call for a new, immediate and sustainable truce in the Gaza Strip. He said that the priority of the Palestinian leadership is to reach a ceasefire, adding that talks about the next day must include a political solution that includes all the Palestinian territories and leads to a two-state solution.
