PM Mustafa Discusses Strategies to Counteract Israel’s Tax Revenue Deductions

Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa held a significant meeting on Monday with economic experts and relevant ministers to address the challenges posed by Israel's deductions from Palestinian tax funds, known as clearance revenues. The meeting aimed to devise effective solutions to mitigate the severe financial crisis impacting public finances.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the discussions focused on identifying economic alternatives and enhancing the financial system to reduce dependency on Israel. This dependency stems from the constraints imposed by the occupation, which have led to increasing deductions from Palestinian tax revenues by Israel.

The meeting also explored practical actions with international partners to address issues within the Paris Protocol, which regulates financial transactions between Israel and Palestine. Participants underscored the necessity of tackling smuggling and tax evasion, which currently result in a loss of over one billion shekels annually for the Palestinian economy.
