RAMALLAH: The Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein al-Sheikh, today discussed with the new European Union Representative in Palestine, Alexandre Stutzmann, the latest regional and international developments. The two parties discussed the urgent need to halt the Israeli aggression and the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. They both pointed out to the catastrophic dangers regarding the Israeli military offensive in the densely overcrowded southern Gaza city of Rafah. They also strongly condemned the forcible displacement of the Palestinian people and the withheld of clearance funds by Israel. For his part, the European Union Representative called for the need to immediately halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which is the only way to bring peace and stability in the region, and to establish an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution based on international legitimacy.
