RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate (PJS) today condemned Israeli incitement against Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza. The PJS decried in the strongest terms systematic Israeli incitement against Azaiza, a Palestinian photo journalist from the Gaza Strip who played a key role in exposing the Israeli genocide in the Strip, and reiterated that all components of the occupation state were complicit in crimes of state-organized terror and genocide against the Palestinian people. It added that it was rude for the occupation state to accuse Palestinian journalists of terrorism at a time when it -Israel- practices terrorism and has killed over 140 journalists, and called on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to expedite its legal proceedings and trials of Israeli leaders for their crimes. In conclusion, the PJS congratulated Azaiza on winning the 2024 World Press Freedom Prize, and considered the Prize as an indication of his professionalism and excellence. Azaiza, who recently won the World Press Freedom Prize, has been grabbing headlines for his brave and ground breaking coverage while he was in Gaza. His social media posts were window to the barbaric realities inflicted upon the Palestinians by the Israeli occupation forces. He was evacuated from the coastal enclave in last January. Based in Gaza for several months of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, Azaiza played crucial role in letting the outside world understand the depth of brutality drilled down on the innocent civilians of Gaza by Israel.
