Ramallah: The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) released a report detailing the Construction Cost Index (CCI) alongside related indices in the West Bank for January 2025.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the report shows that the CCI for residential buildings decreased to 122.09, a 0.20% drop from December 2024. This index takes 2013 as its base year. A notable decrease of 0.34% in raw material prices contributed to this decline, although equipment rental prices saw a slight increase of 0.08%. Labour costs and wages remained unchanged during this period.
The report further outlines the CCI for non-residential buildings, which fell to 120.94, marking a 0.21% decrease compared to the previous month. Similar trends were observed with a 0.36% drop in raw material prices and a 0.08% increase in equipment rental costs, while labour costs remained stable.
For skeleton buildings, the CCI reached 121.08, reflecting a 0.44% decrease from December 2024. The most significant change for this category was a 0.70% reduction in raw material prices, while equipment rental costs saw a minimal increase of 0.08%.
In contrast, the Road Cost Index (RCI) saw a slight increase of 0.03%, reaching 116.20. This rise was influenced by a 0.19% increase in equipment operation and maintenance costs, while raw material prices dipped slightly by 0.01%. Labour and equipment rental costs again showed no change.
The Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) rose to 133.13, with a 0.37% increase. Within this category, the Water Networks Index increased by 0.76% to 138.48, whereas the Water Reservoirs Cost Index declined by 0.59% to 121.37.
Lastly, the Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) climbed to 118.70, marking a 0.61% increase from December 2024. This index, like the WNCI, uses January 2010 as its base month.
