Qatar's beach volleyball team (Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan) qualified for the Round of 16 at the Olympics Paris 2024 after defeating Sweden (David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig) (2-1) in the second round of Pool A's matches. Younousse and Tijan managed to hold their own against Ahman and Hellvig who are ranked 1st in the FIVB Men's Beach Volleyball World Ranking, scoring (15-21), (21-19), and (20-18). Qatar tops the group standings with 4 points after winning two matches. They beat Italy (Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava) (2-0) on Saturday, scoring (21-19) in the first set and (21-18) in the second. On August 1, Qatar's beach volleyball team will face Australia (Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher) in the third and final match within Pool A. Younousse expressed his happiness with the win and qualification and described the match against the Swedish duo as strong and difficult.
