HEBRON: A Palestinian paramedic Friday afternoon sustained a gunshot injury and other Palestinians suffocated in an Israeli army raid in the al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, according to local sources. They said that the occupation forces stormed the southern occupied West Bank refugee camp and deployed snipers on the rooftops of buildings, sparking confrontations. The gun-toting soldiers opened fire towards local youths protesting the raid as well as towards residents' houses, injuring a Palestinian Medical Relief paramedic with a live round in the foot and causing others to suffocate from tear gas inhalation. The paramedic was rushed to a medical center for treatment, and the suffocation cases were treated at the scene. The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents. These raids, which take place also in areas classified as Areas A under the Oslo Accords, are cond ucted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
