estinian detainee Tha'er Sameeh Abu Asab, 38 years old, has suddenly died in the Israeli prison of Naqab, the PLO Committee for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs announced last night, bringing the total number of prisoners and detainees who have died in Israeli prisons since October 7 to six. This comes amid reports of widespread physical and psychological torture, including the use of inhumane techniques to instill terror among the Palestinian prisoners and detainees, by Israeli occupation authorities. Qaddura Fares, the Head of the Committee for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, confirmed the death of the detainee Tha'er Sameeh Abu Asab, who hails from Qalqilya, in a phone call with WAFA. Abu Asab had been detained since May 27, 2005, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The Committee stated in a press release that the Israeli occupation is carrying out out targeted assassinations against detainees with premeditation. It held the international powers supporting the Israeli occupation responsible for the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the continuous aggression against our people everywhere, including detainees in Israeli prisons. Last Tuesday, detainee Ahmed Mohamed Marei, 33, from the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan in Salfit Governorate was also pronounced dead in mysterious circumstances in Megiddo Prison. Since the start of the all-out Israeli aggression against our people on October 7, Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation prisons have been subjected to physical and verbal torture, as well as deprivation of life essentials, according to testimonies of released detainees and statements from prisoner advocacy organizations.
