Khan younis: A 27-day-old infant died on Saturday due to the extreme cold in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the infant Aisha Ayesh al-Agha passed away in the city of Khan Younis due to the severe cold. With the death of al-Agha, the number of children who have died in the Gaza Strip from the extreme cold since the beginning of the season has risen to eight, amid a severe shortage of humanitarian aid and a lack of heating supplies.
Sources warned that the incident highlights the severity of the humanitarian situation in the Strip, especially for children and displaced people living in flimsy tents ill-equipped to withstand the cold weather. Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from a lack of shelter and medical care, and a lack of heating supplies due to fuel shortages, amidst a stormy, cold, and rainy weather system.
