GAZA: The lawyer of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) and the Detainees and Ex-Detainee said today that the Israeli prison of Ramla continues to oppress the detainees, ignoring their health condition and deliberately using their injuries and illnesses as a weapon to torture and kill them slowly. The lawyer of the Authority, who visited the Ramla prison hospital yesterday, said that the 36-year-old Jihad Burqan from the city of Jerusalem is at risk of losing his sight due to not being given the injections in addition to his suffering from diabetes and kidney problems. "As a result of the deliberate medical negligence and depriving the detainee Burqan of his medication, he suffered a severe health deterioration." The lawyer affirmed, "Despite Burqan's attempts to request treatment, the prison guard's constant response to him was: "We only provide you with treatment when you are on the verge of death." He pointed out that in addition to medical negligence, the detainee Burqan was subjected to severe be atings by the repression units and prison guards many times, the last of which was in Gilboa Prison, where one of the soldiers hit him in the face while he was on the ground.
