Palestinian Detainee Dies in Israeli Custody

Ramallah: The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society have reported the death of Musab Hassan Adili, a 20-year-old prisoner from the village of Osarin, located south of Nablus. Adili passed away at Soroka Hospital last night while in Israeli custody.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Adili had been detained since March 22, 2024, and was serving a sentence of one year and one month in prison. He was only three days away from his scheduled release at the time of his death.

The joint statement from the Commission and the PPS highlighted that Adili’s death is part of a troubling pattern of fatalities among prisoners, which they attribute to the actions of the Israeli occupation prison system. The statement asserts that such deaths have become more frequent since the onset of what they describe as an ongoing genocide.

The statement further noted that Adili’s death brings the total number of known detainee deaths since the Israeli aggression to 64. In addition to this, the statement emphasized that efforts to identify other victims are hampered by the crime of enforced disappearance, with at least 40 of the deceased being from Gaza.

The organizations reiterated their call for the international human rights community to take decisive action against the leaders of the occupation. They urged for accountability and the imposition of sanctions in response to the alleged war crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
