Israel Continues Disinformation Campaign Against UNRWA

Gaza: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has expressed concerns over Israeli authorities preventing international media from accessing Gaza, which he claims is contributing to misleading propaganda.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Lazzarini highlighted his concerns in a tweet, stating that since the onset of the conflict a year and a half ago, Israeli authorities have restricted international media coverage in Gaza. This restriction, he argues, has fueled propaganda, disinformation, and dehumanization. Lazzarini commended Palestinian journalists for their continued efforts despite the challenges, noting that 170 journalists have lost their lives while performing their duties.

He stressed the importance of the free flow of information and independent reporting, especially during conflicts, and insisted that Gaza should not be an exception. Lazzarini called for international media to be granted a
ccess to the Gaza Strip to ensure truth and accountability.

Earlier, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees reported that 1.9 million people have been forcibly displaced in the Gaza Strip due to ongoing bombardment, fear, and loss. Lazzarini also warned of the humanitarian crisis in the region, indicating that the fighting has led to the collapse of public order.
