Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi has underlined that ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and establishing a fully sovereign Palestinian state is the only hope for achieving peace in the region. In a statement carried by the Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Busaidi said that ending the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine is the only way to restore regional peace. He pointed out that the reality of this situation is difficult to bear for too long, as many Western governments have postponed dealing with this reality and failed to ensure the security and stability for the Palestinian people that only a State can provide. The rights and lives of the Palestinian people under occupation have been gradually eroded due to the expansion of illegal settlements and the imposition of an apartheid system. He added that Israel's supporters speak in the name of international law while repeatedly preventing its implementation in the case of Palestine, adding that this must change now , and respect for international law must be real, not in words but through taking action. The Omani Foreign Minister called for demanding that Israel suspend its military operations in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Lebanon, and that this be followed by collective international action to end the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine. A fully sovereign Palestinian State must be established, supported not only by the letter of the law but by all the institutional and organizational resources of the international community, he noted.
