Amman: Jordan produced 43,988 barrels of crude oil in 2023, a significant decrease from the 94,675 barrels produced in 2022, according to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources' annual report. The report, issued on Monday, also highlighted that the country's gas production increased to 6.13 billion cubic feet in 2023, up from 5.38 billion cubic feet in 2022. In terms of petroleum derivatives consumption, Jordan used 497,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 1,320 tons of gasoline, 265,000 tons of jet fuel, 98,000 tons of kerosene, 1,495 tons of diesel, 174,000 tons of fuel oil, and 124,000 tons of asphalt. The report detailed sectoral electricity consumption, with 46 percent used by residential and public buildings, 22 percent by industry, 17 percent by commercial entities and hotels, 13 percent by agriculture and water pumping, and 2 percent for street lighting. Jordan's imports included 1,776 tons of crude oil, 474,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 1,002 tons of diesel, 893,000 tons of gasoline, 41,000 tons of jet fuel, and 22,000 tons of kerosene.
