Gaza city: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a condemnation against Israel for the deliberate killing of six journalists in Gaza City. The journalists, Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammed Qureiqa, Ibrahim Daher, Moamen Aliwa, Mohammed Noufal, and Mohammed Al-Khalidi, were targeted in a journalists' tent last Sunday.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the OIC declared this act as an attack on press freedom and a violation of international laws meant to safeguard media personnel and their operations. The OIC highlighted this incident as part of a larger pattern of violations by Israel, which has resulted in the deaths of 242 journalists since October 7, 2023. These actions are viewed as efforts to suppress information and prevent it from reaching international audiences.
The OIC has placed full responsibility on Israel for this incident and has called for an immediate investigation to ensure accountability. The organization also urged international institutions to take swift action to stop the targeted violence against journalists and to enforce protections under international humanitarian law and related conventions.
