OIC Holds Emergency Meeting at UN to Discuss Israeli Actions in Gaza

New york: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened an emergency meeting at the ambassador level on Monday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This meeting was organized following a request by the State of Palestine to address the ongoing Israeli actions against the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Palestine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Riyad Mansour, provided a detailed account of the current efforts being made by the Palestinian leadership. These efforts, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, involve engagement with Arab and international leaders to halt the Israeli actions against Palestine, with a specific focus on the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized the need to increase pressure on the Israeli authorities to cancel the extensive invasion plan that was recently endorsed by the Netanyahu government. The OIC group condemned the Israeli actions and urged the international community, specifically the UN Security Council, to take immediate steps towards establishing a ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

All members of the group decided to address the press in front of the UN Security Council at 11 a.m. New York time. They also agreed to distribute the statement of the Arab-Islamic ministerial committee, led by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
