Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced today, Sunday, the inauguration of Masoud Pezeshkian as the new president of the country, after winning the early elections held following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi, in a helicopter crash last May. The Iranian News Agency /IRNA/ reported that Khamenei "by approving the vote of the Iranian people in the presidential elections, appointed Masoud Pezeshkian as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran", to officially begin his duties, during a ceremony held in the presence of a number of senior officials in the country. Masoud Pezeshkian received about 55 percent of the voters' votes, in the second round of the Iranian presidential elections held on July 5. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
