RAMALLAH: The official Palestinian media condemned on Tuesday the Israeli occupation forces' targeting of the official media and journalists during their ongoing aggression on the northern West Bank governorates. In a press release, the official media stressed that the direct targeting of journalists working in the field with gunfire, detention, and harassment will not deter the official media personnel from carrying out their duty toward the Palestinian people and their just cause and expose the practices and crimes of the occupation. The release stressed that the targeting of cameramen and journalists working for the WAFA News Agency, including Ayman al-Nubani, Mohammed Mansour and Mohammed Abu Zeid, and the continued detention of female journalist Rasha Hirzallah, come as part of the occupation's targeting of the Palestinian media in general, and the official media in particular. The release denounced Israel's attempts to obscure the truth and terrorize journalists, especially in light of its widespread aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The official media called on the International Federation of Journalists to provide protection to journalists, especially in light of the difficult conditions faced by the Palestinian people due to the occupation's ongoing aggression, so that they can carry out their duty to report the truth and expose the occupation's crimes to the whole world. The occupation forces opened fire directly at the car of journalists Ayman al-Nubani and Mohammed Mansour while they were covering the attack on the village of Kafr Dan west of Jenin, causing them injuries. Yesterday, photographer Mohammed Abu Zeid was attacked and beaten up by the Israeli forces. Eleven journalists and official media workers have been killed, and 47 others have been detained since the start of the occupation's onslaught on the Palestinian people on October 7, 2023.
