Occupation Forces Intensify Demolition Operations in Tulkarm Camps

Tulkarm: Israeli occupation forces have continued their extensive destruction of residential buildings and essential infrastructure in Tulkarm refugee camps.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the aggression by Israeli forces on the Tulkarm refugee camp has entered its 131st day. The forces have embarked on a large-scale demolition operation, targeting dozens of residential buildings. This action is part of a broader plan to demolish 106 buildings in both Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps, which include 58 buildings with over 250 apartments and numerous stores in the Tulkarm camp.

The demolition orders were issued 10 days prior, giving residents only three hours to collect their belongings. During this time, the occupation soldiers actively chased, assaulted, and opened live fire at families trying to access their homes, despite prior coordination. Meanwhile, massive explosions were reported in the Nur Shams refugee camp, which has been under aggression for the 118th consecutive day. However, detailed information remains unavailable due to a tight siege and intense gunfire.

Occupation forces have maintained a strict siege on both camps, preventing families from salvaging their belongings and shooting at anyone approaching the area. Soldiers have taken control of residential buildings on Nablus Street and in the northern neighborhood of Tulkarm, displacing families and converting homes into military barracks. For over three months, some houses have been occupied by soldiers.

Israeli soldiers and military vehicles continue to patrol the main streets and neighborhoods, obstructing the movement of Palestinians and vehicles by setting up checkpoints, inspecting, interrogating, and assaulting people. Earth mounds have been erected on Nablus Street, further hindering Palestinian movement.

The military aggression began on January 27, resulting in the deaths of 13 Palestinians, including a minor and two women, one of whom was pregnant. The aggression has also injured dozens, led to hundreds of arrests, and caused near-total destruction in the area. Estimates indicate that over 5,000 families, comprising more than 25,000 Palestinians, have been displaced. More than 400 houses have been completely destroyed, with 2,753 others partially damaged, as soldiers continue to block entrances and render the camps devoid of life.
