Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Dr. Ali Al-Moayyad, met with the CEO of the SAMENA Council, "Bokar Ba" on the sidelines of the Future Summit held in New York, where a number of technical axes related to the development of the communications sector in Iraq were discussed. The meeting focused mainly on the mechanisms for providing 5G services in Iraq, stressing the importance of adopting the latest technical practices and infrastructure that allow improving communication speed, reducing response time, and supporting the digital economy in line with global technology developments. The meeting also addressed the topic of space internet services, as the two sides discussed the best global practices for licensing these services, focusing on the benefits and harms resulting from the use of this technology, and studying potential challenges, such as interference with the terrestrial frequency spectrum, and its impact on the environment and users. In the context of discussing the development o f the communications sector, the importance of supporting Iraq was emphasized by holding global and regional workshops and conferences that address the latest innovations in the fields of communications and information technology, including artificial intelligence, big data, and advanced infrastructure technologies. This support will enhance Iraqi national capabilities in managing and improving modern communications technologies and contribute to raising the level of readiness of Iraq to achieve a qualitative shift in the digital economy. The SAMENA Council is one of the most important global alliances in the technology sector and leads an alliance of communications companies in South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. It is noteworthy that the Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Dr. Ali Al-Moayyad, represents the Republic of Iraq in the Future Summit held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, as it is considered one of the most prominent events hosted by the United Nat ions.
