Time-linked electricity pricing will be implemented by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) for certain sectors as of July 1 and will be extended to all sectors, including the household sector, by the end of the year. The new tariff is now divided into three time periods (peak, partial peak and off-peak), which includes the electric vehicle charging sector, telecommunications, medium and extractive industries. Peak electricity prices were set from 17:00 to 23:00 as follows: Medium Industrial 88 fils per kWh, Water Pumping 120 fils, Vehicle/Household Charging 150 fils, and Vehicle/Public Station Charging 15 fils without commission. Off-peak hours from 06:00 to 14:00 are: Industrial Medium 60 fils per kWh, Water Pumping 80 fils, Vehicle/Household Charging 90 fils, and Vehicle/Public Station Charging 90 fils without commission. Partial peaks from 14:00 to 17:00 and 23:00 to 06:00 are: Medium Industrial 68 fils per kWh, Water Pumping 95 fils, Vehicle/Domestic Charging 117 fils, and Vehicle/Pub lic Station Charging 112 fils without commission, noting that DEWA is in the process of announcing new values and periods for these tariffs. The EMRC started applying this tariff optionally as of May 28, 2023 for some sectors. The time-based tariff means that the user can control his electricity consumption pattern in order to leverage a reduced tariff during the off-peak period. Source: Jordan News Agency
