Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and the Palestinian Minister of Social Development, Samah Hamad, discussed on Monday enhancing cooperation. During the meeting at the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) offices, Bani Mustafa presented the National Strategy for Social Protection and said a new long-anticipated bylaw on professionalising social work would prevent unlicensed individuals from practising social work. She discussed services for persons with disabilities and the Ministry's efforts at de-institutionalisation (De-I) that would ensure persons with disabilities would live with their families and in their communities outside of shelters. She added that the Ministry developed 24 "inclusive" day-care centres to ensure a transition to alternative accommodation, noting the Ministry's partnership with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD). Bani Mustafa discussed Jordan's support for the people of embattled Gaza and the occupied West Bank. In turn, Hamad praised Jordan for supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, adding, "The Kingdom was one of the first countries to provide aid and relief to the people in the Strip."
