The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday the establishment of a liaison office for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Jordan. The Ministry said in a joint statement with the alliance regarding the decision to open the office in Amman that an action plan was drawn up at the current NATO summit held in Washington to strengthen the cooperation approach in the Middle East and North Africa region to keep pace with developments in the security, regional and global scene. It pointed out that this plan was keen to demonstrate the alliance's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the southern neighboring countries, by establishing a liaison office for the alliance in Jordan. For his part, Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance's liaison office in Amman will raise the bilateral partnership to a new level, noting that NATO is seeking, through its partners in the Middle East and North Africa region, to confront threats and challenges.
