Baghdad, The National Security Service announced today, Monday, the dismantling of fraudulent networks and the arrest of 11 persons accused of impersonation, including an accused who impersonated the father of the Director of the Prime Minister's Office. The Service said in a statement, 'In light of the continuous follow-up aimed at prosecuting fraudulent networks, the National Security Service detachments in Baghdad were able to overthrow an accused who impersonated the father of the director of the Prime Minister's Office and was blackmailing government departments for financial purposes, as the arrest operation took place in coordination with the Directorate of Najaf security after activating the intelligence effort that led to his place of residence inside the governorate.' It added: "The Service's detachments in the governorates of Karbala, Diyala, and Wasit arrested 5 defendants who impersonated government positions for the purpose of defrauding citizens and misleading them into being appointed." Acc ording to the statement, and in a related context, 'the detachments were able to arrest 4 defendants who impersonated a specialist doctor, and they were caught red-handed while practicing this profession within their clinics in the governorates of Baghdad, Karbala, and Maysan.' It stressed that "the arrest operations took place in accordance with judicial arrest warrants, indicating that the necessary measures were taken against the accused and referred them to the competent judicial authorities so that they receive their just punishment in accordance with the law."
