North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Thursday that Pyongyang conducted a successful and important test aimed at developing missiles capable of carrying multiple warheads, which contradicts South Korea's assessment that the test is believed to have ended in failure. South Korean news agency (Yonhap), citing KCNA, said that during the test conducted Wednesday, Pyongyang's missile department "successfully conducted the separation and guidance control test of individual mobile warheads". According to Yonhap, this announcement "contradicts South Korea's assessment that the missile exploded in the air." This comes a day after the South Korean military announced that North Korea launched what appeared to be a hypersonic missile off its eastern coast, but it exploded in the air.
