Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), in cooperation with Cambridge schools, celebrated the conclusion of the first edition of the Holy Qur'an memorization competition in private schools and kindergartens in which winners were honored. 1,021 students from 182 private schools and kindergartens participated in the competition. It focused on memorizing the Holy Qur'an according to directives determined by a specialized judging committee from the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, Al Azhar Al Sharif institution, and Cambridge schools. Assistant Undersecretary for Special Education Affairs at the MOEHE Omar Abdulaziz Al Naama said that the competition aimed to encourage students in private schools and kindergartens to memorize the Holy Qur'an as it has a profound personal impact as well as its impact on their future. Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department at the MOEHE Dr. Rania Mohammed explained that the competition came about as a result of Camb ridge schools' launch of programs aimed at identity rooting and consolidating Islamic values. Sheikh Ahmed Fathi Othman, the head of the Al Azhar Al Sharif judging committee, also spoke during the ceremony about the competition's judging, stages, and importance. Al Naama honored the 50 winners of the competition at the conclusion of the ceremony, in addition to honoring 35 distinguished participants from various private schools and kindergartens in Qatar.
