Minister of Migration and Displacement Evan Faeq Jabro chaired today the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Relief and Support for Displaced Persons to discuss closing the camps in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the United Nations. The ministry stated in a statement that: "The meeting discussed a number of topics on the agenda, the most important of which is the Prime Minister's directive to form a Diwani committee headed by the Ministry of Migration and membership of the Kurdistan Region, the United Nations and the relevant ministries for the purpose of closing the camps for the displaced." During the meeting, Jabro directed the teams of the Ministry of Migration "to enter the camps to register those wishing to return and coordinate and cooperate with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the United Nations to develop a rapid mechanism regarding ensuring the voluntary and safe return of families from the camps located in Erbil and Dohuk and closing them completely."
