Doha: The Ministry of Finance, represented by the General Budget Department, in cooperation with Qatar University, organized the second phase of the 'Transition to Program and Performance Budget' workshops, dedicated to governmental and semi-governmental entities, which will run for four weeks. These workshops are part of the Ministry's efforts and commitment to enhancing the fundamental requirements of program and performance budgeting, which contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030. The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and training necessary for the transition to program and performance budgeting project, and introduces the concept of program and performance budgeting as an advanced method for preparing the general budget, focusing on achieving objectives, then analyzing primary objectives into sub-objectives and establishing performance metrics to measure progress based on efficiency and effectiveness indicators. Additionally, it involves training and developing t echnical and administrative capacities of employees to ensure a strong understanding of program and performance budgeting concepts and methods. The Ministry of Finance commenced the first phase of the budget transition workshops last year, 2023, which involved 11 government and semi-governmental entities. In the second phase this year, 150 representatives from 18 government and semi-governmental entities participated. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to continue coordinating with various government and semi-governmental entities, facilitating communication through meetings, workshops, and sessions.
