Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati revealed that "diplomatic contacts have intensified in the past hours before the UN Security Council session, with the aim of seeking again to cease fire and thus exert more pressure to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon." Mikati said in a press statement: "There are contacts taking place between the United States and France, which requested the Security Council to convene, with the aim of reviving the declaration of a ceasefire for a specific period in order to resume the search for political solutions." He added: "We have expressed again during diplomatic contacts our readiness to implement Resolution 1701, provided that Israel adheres to all its provisions. We also stressed the priority of stopping the Israeli aggression that causes a large number of martyrs and wounded and does not spare civilians, ambulances and relief personnel, and this is a matter that violates all international laws and charters." He stressed: "Violence, killing and destruction will not lea d to a solution, and Israel must be obligated to stop its destructive aggression, because we fear that if things develop, the scope of confrontations will expand to include the entire region." He stressed that "the support of friendly and Arab countries and international organizations by our side is, of course, a fundamental factor in alleviating the impact of the displacement crisis, in the exceptional circumstances that Lebanon is going through."
