The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued on Tuesday a forecast predicting thunderstorms and rain of varying intensity across several governorates in the next 24 hours. According to the center's weather bulletin, thunderstorms with descending winds and possible hail are expected in the highlands of Shabwa, Dhale', Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Sana'a, Amran, Mahweet, Hajjah, and Sa'ada. Rainfall may also extend westward, impacting Tihama Plain and the western coasts of Hajjah, Hodeida, and Taiz. Additionally, varying intensity rain and thunderstorms are likely in parts of Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Abyan, Lahj, Bayda, Marib, and Jawf. Recent rainfall measurements from the past 24 hours recorded at several meteorological stations include: Ataq 41.2 mm, Dhamar 31.4 mm, Ibb - As Saddah 16.5 mm, Hodeida - Al Kadan 16.1 mm, Raymah 12.2 mm, Amran 10.6 mm, and Sana'a 9.3 mm. Thunderstorms of varying intensity have also been observed outside the scope of monitoring stations in parts of the western mount ainous highlands, interior plateaus, and the western, southern, and eastern coasts. The center advises residents to exercise extreme caution, avoid valleys and torrents during thunderstorms, and be wary of reduced visibility due to rain and low clouds. It also warns of potential rockfalls on mountain roads and collapses of mud and local buildings due to ongoing rainfall.
