A meeting held in Sana'a, chaired by Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Ali Al-Yafei, discussed on Tuesday the project to support handicrafts, which the Ministry intends to implement in cooperation with a number of private sector partners . The meeting, which included a number of leaders, specialists and businessmen, reviewed the idea and contents of the study on the project and its main determinants, as well as opinions and ideas about it. The Culture and Tourism Minister emphasized the project's importance , which comes as a translation of the revolutionary leadership directives towards achieving self-sufficiency and utilizing the energies of the youth. He pointed out that it falls within the ministry's plan and its national strategy to develop , protect crafts and handicrafts, make them an income-generating source, and contribute directly to the national economy advancement . Minister Al-Yafei pointed out that Yemen has many energies and creations in the field of crafts that should be utilized, rehabi litated, supported, and work to market their products internally and externally, especially in light of the presence of national competencies and expertise. He stressed the need for coordination between the Ministry of Culture and all relevant authorities in supporting and developing such projects that would advance the reality of craft industries.
