Meeting in Sa’ada discusses water basin status

In its meeting today, Sunday,chaired by the Secretary-General of the local province - Chairman of the Technical Committee Muhammad Al-Imad, the mini-committee for the Sa'ada Water Basin discussed the status of the water basin in the province . In its meeting, which included members of the province's representatives, Saleh Oqab, Mohammed Al-Baadani, Mohammed Kaeba, and Saleh Sharma, the committee reviewed the depletion of groundwater that the basin is exposed to as a result of the expansion of agricultural activity, and the measures to limit random digging operations at the beginning of the agricultural season. At the meeting, the Secretary-General of the local province stressed the importance of activating awareness at the official and popular levels to preserve water sources, use modern irrigation methods, and limit the expansion of Qat cultivation within the water basin areas. He pointed out the continued prevention of random drilling in the basin areas, and coordination with the security authorities to carry out their role in arresting violators. Al-Jaradi stressed the need for the local authority in the province and districts to play its role in cooperating with the Water Resources Authority branch to complete groundwater recharge projects implemented by the Authority branch and to launch work on new projects for the year 2024 AD.
