A meeting in Sana'a today,Wednesday, headed by the Caretaker Industry and Trade Minister , Muhammad Sharaf Al-Mutahhar, discussed mechanisms for cooperation and coordination between date growers, packaging factories , and supporting local date production. In the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, a number of date merchants and representatives of date processing and packaging factories, Minister Al-Mutahhar confirmed the Ministry's readiness to provide support and facilities to support local production of dates. The Minister stressed the importance of developing a joint action plan between the Ministries of Industry , Agriculture, farmers, date packing and packaging factories to develop local production and increase the share of Yemeni dates in local markets. He reported that the Ministry of Agriculture carried out an agricultural survey of date farms in Al-Jawf , Tihama and developed a plan to develop local production of this important com modity. The meeting approved the formation of a committee from the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Irrigation, date merchants, representatives of date packing and packaging factories to identify obstacles and develop a chronic executive work matrix to address them in a way that contributes to developing the cultivation , production of dates and increasing the local market share of them.
