Media Union condemns X Company’s closure of Saba Agency’s account on its platform

The Yemeni Media Union condemned the previous closure of (X) Twitter Company, the account of the Yemeni News Agency, Saba, on its social media platform.

The Media Union confirmed, in a statement, a copy of which was received by Saba, that what the management of the (X) platform did was an arbitrary measure against the most prominent Yemeni media outlet, and it is a dangerous development that threatens freedom of opinion and expression at Arab and international levels, as international conventions guarantee the protection of media institutions and media professionals from all types of violations including closure and gagging.

The Union pointed out that this arbitrary measure against the Yemeni news agency, Saba, comes within the framework of the steps of the American-Saudi aggression that has targeted the Yemeni media outlets since March 26, 2015, by closing, blocking at times ,bombing and destroying at other times, leading to targeting, closing the pages of activists, media professionals, and media institutions on the social media platforms Facebook, YouTube, and X.

The Union declared its full solidarity with the Yemeni news agency, Saba, calling on media figures, journalists, human rights activists, and individuals and institutions in various countries of the free world to stand in solidarity with the Yemeni media, condemn these companies, and pressure them to reverse their arbitrary, illegal, and immoral measures.
