Lebanon on Tuesday condemned the Israeli Knesset's vote declaring the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as "a terrorist" organization. "The decision is part of repeated and ongoing Israeli attempts to undermine the agency and its role in supporting refugees, preserving their right to return within a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, and depriving the Palestinians of any hope for a better life and future," the Lebanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement. It called for supporting UNRWA in order to protect its mandate as defined by its founding decision, "so that the refugee agency can continue to provide health and education services to Palestinians, who are awaiting their return to their homes and the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state based on relevant UN resolutions."
