Lebanese Health Minister Firas Al-Abyad announced today, Saturday, that the number of deaths as a result of the Israeli raid on the southern suburb of Beirut has reached 31. Al-Abyad said, during a press conference today: "The number of victims of the raid has reached 31, including 3 children, 7 women and 3 Syrians, in addition to 68 wounded." He explained: "The attack on the southern suburb caused "an entire building to collapse on the heads of its residents, most of whom were civilians." He pointed out that rescue and civil defense teams worked throughout the night to extract the victims and wounded. The Lebanese Minister indicated: "The number of victims of the southern suburb attack and before it the pagers and walkie-talkies (pagers) reached 70 dead, while 770 wounded are still receiving treatment." He described the recent Israeli attacks as a "blatant war crime," stressing: "Lebanon has worked to increase its medical stock of medicines and supplies to a level sufficient for 4 months, and will work to increase the stock further and cooperate with friendly and sister countries to raise readiness." Al-Abyad also said that Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar contacted him and offered to provide medical assistance as well as cooperation regarding medical evacuation.
