The Agricultural Society in Al-Durayhimi district in Hodeida province launched on Tuesday the planting of 10,000 acres of arable desert land at the district level. The project, which involves a number of plows and community efforts, aims to take advantage of the rainy season to move towards planting large areas of arable land within the project to plant 100,000 hectares of desert lands and sand dunes in Tihama Plain. At the inauguration, the directorate director , Muhammad al-Musai, praised the efforts made to cultivate the desert in implementation of the leadership's directives to exploit large areas of arable land in conjunction with the rainy season to plant various agricultural crops. Jaber Al-Kayyal, President of the association, explained that the association seeks to expand the cultivation of various types of grains and other agricultural varieties in order to contribute to achieving tangible progress to reach self-sufficiency. He appreciated the interest of the local authority in the province , th e efforts and support of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the province, the Agricultural Cooperative Union branch , the Seed and Bunyan Development Foundations, and Tihama Development Authority in supporting the association's work to implement the desert and sand dune cultivation project in the directorate.
