Labor Ministry records 1,004 violations, warns 1,441 firms in1st quarter

Labor Ministry inspectors have recorded 1,004 violations and issued warning notices against establishments that failed to comply with labor regulations in the first quarter of the year, the Ministry said Tuesday. Spokesman Mohammad Zyoud said ministry teams carried out four campaigns over the first three months of the year, targeting specific economic sectors and visiting 7,539 economic facilities. Zyoud said the ministry received 2,360 complaints on its platform, of which 799 were settled with employers and the labor rights of workers were guaranteed. Another 512 complaints were still being processed, and 282 fines were issued against establishments that did not adhere to ministry regulations. On adherence to occupational safety and health standards, Zyoud said 3,419 establishments were visited by ministry personnel, most of which were to raise awareness about new measures and instructions. The spokesman also said 68 child labor cases were recorded in which 40 establishments were fined and 43 issued warn ings, in addition to addressing 18 child labor tips on the platform. He said ministry teams also checked on 32 facilities to ensure they provided nurseries for the children of employees, and that 5 were found in violation and 7 given warnings.
