Kuwait Martyr's Day which falls on August 2 is a significant occasion for recalling the national resistance sacrifices in the face of the blatant Iraqi aggression on the State of Kuwait on August 2, 1990, the Martyr's Bureau said on Saturday. Salah Al-Ofan, the director general of the martyrs honoring office, said in a press release today on the upcoming 34th anniversary of the aggression that this occasion constitutes a source of pride for the people of Kuwait who have stood on the side of the political leadership, namely Al-Sabah family, masterminds of development for decades. Books and documents that have been written about that hard period are not enough to cover all of the great sacrifices at the time. That historic epic embodied by the people of Kuwait guides the coming generations and constitutes a hope for achieving a better future under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Al-Ofan s aid. Kuwait's resistance fighters had taken an honorary and unique stand and the martyrs had fallen for manifesting the Kuwaiti people's resolve to safeguard their homeland's security and independence. As to the activities that would mark the occasion, he revealed that exhibitions would be organized at shopping malls, namely the Avenues, 360, Al-Salhiya and Al-Khairan, under the motto, "Kuwait forever". Animation and smart sets will be employed to narrate some of these heroes' deeds. Source: Kuwait News Agency
